Video Editing Review

While watching the tutorials on video editing, I learned that you can organize your videos as favorite or rejected and you can choose to watch the rejected or favorite or all at one time. The favorite videos have a green line over them, while the rejected video clips have a red line. Also if you select a video as rejected, it doesn't mean it has been deleted.
Another thing I learned from watching these tutorials is that iMovie CAN fix shaky video footage. You can do this by going to file and then clicking on 'Analyze for Stabilization'. This option will make the video stable and able to watch. However, some footage may be categorized as un-watchable/too shaky, and iMovie will put a wave-like, red line on the clips so you know that it was unable to be fixed.
Those are just some of the things I learned from watching the tutorials!

WaLkInG Gallery

Some of my favorite themes I saw today were...the New York (?) theme that Will had and the football themes that Alex and Tyler had. Some of my favorite edits I did and saw were the replace a face, [where you use the layers and you erase the top layer;which is another person/celebrity and underneath is your face :). This creates the illusion that you are the other person, just with your face.] and I also liked the tint filter (changes the tint/shade), but all of the edits turned out cool! One of my favorite sound mixes was Alex's because he used a lot of different songs (all with the same genre) and I thought that they blended well together.
The most important things these two units taught me to do was to create an excellent project, which featured both pictures and sound that was entertaining to an audience. The units also taught me new editing techniques I didn't know before (example: replace a face) and also how to create a song/mix music together. I think we accomplished what we set out to learn! I've grown a lot as a multimedia designer, from in the beginning only knowing how to edit pictures and put them into a slideshow, to now knowing how to create a song/mix. Some skills I have now that will help me in the future would be...knowing how to use layers to create a new photo (combination of photos), I now know how to use photoshop and also I know how to create a mix...these will all be helpful if I ever have to create a project like this again. :)

News Podcast Afterthoughts

I recently finished the News Podcast Project...after thinking about the process I went through today, I can say that I think I did a fairly good job. I remembered how to do everything and I put in lots of pictures and my intro and outro sounded good! I listened to my final project to evaluate it, and I thought if I was someone listening to this and watching the pictures...would I enjoy this or just be bored? I came to a conclusion that I would enjoy it! :)
I feel that this would be professional quality if I didn't have so much background noise and if I had a little more time to complete it. If I was my boss though, I would still be o.k. with the final thing, and use it on the air, because it's an interesting story and the pictures and music will keep people entertained while listening/watching. I would and would not like to help out with a process like this in the future...I would because it's fun to create a news podcast or just a podcast in general. I would not though because the pressure was higher when you have a quick deadline and I would feel that I wasn't doing my best work if I didn't have all the time I needed. Although, if we could have done some of this at home, I think I would rather enjoy doing a process like this again.

Sound Unit Intro

After watching the sound unit intro video I learned that sound travels in waves. You can measure sound by frequency and amplitude. Frequency is how fast or slow and amplitude is how soft or loud. Another fact I learned from the video is that there are two forms of waves: indirect and direct and the types represented by those are diffusion, reflection and absorption.
Another video we watched was the Today Show video. This video talked about how hearing loss is being more impacted today then it has been in the past. This is due to the large amount of loud noise in todays society. It also talked about how you should get your hearing checked, because hearing is something you shouldn't miss out on in life; the hearing aids are more advanced then what they used to be. After watching the video I realized that my noise exposure hasn't been very good for my ears. I need to be more careful with my volume choice when listening to music and I also need to protect my ears when going to concerts, etc.

I'm nearing the end of the photoshop unit in Multimedia class and there are many skills I have learned. Two specific skills I have learned would be clone stamping and cut outs.
Clone stamping is used when you want to either erase an object, part of your photo or you want to had more to it. You do this by clicking on the little stamp icon on the left side of your Photoshop screen. Next you use the alt key and the mouse and you select the exact pixel or pixels (color) that you want to use. After that you move the "stamp" icon over the part of the photo you want to change/erase.
Cut outs are used when you want to cut out a specific object in the photo. You do this by using the "lasso icon" on the left side of Photoshop. You draw a line around the object you want to cut out, and make sure its all the way around the object and connecting back, and then you click copy. Next you open up a new page and click paste. Your object should appear and you can use your eraser tool to touch up the cut.

Above are some before and after photos I did during the Photoshop Unit. :)

This is a slideshow over photo editing and sharing your photos. Sharing your photos are very easy if you are using iPhoto! You can share them by email, a slideshow, or by making a book or calendar. :) To make a slide show all you have to do is select all of your photos, click the slideshow link on the bottom of iPhoto and you choose your own settings! Easy as that. :D

Hi and Welcome!
This is my blog about Multimedia. My blog is a portfolio of the work I've done in Multimedia class. For our first unit, we learned how to organize, edit, and do many more things using iPhoto. Some notable things I learned from our first unit videos are:
- You can move photos into other albums by cutting and pasting
- You can increase the viewing size of the photos
- If you delete a photo from an album, it will still remain in your iPhoto library
Thanks for reading my first post!
~Amanda :)
